Cherif Benhabiles, elected President of the AIO
The African Insurance Organization (AIO) has elected Cherif Benhabiles, General Manager of the National Agricultural Mutual Fund (CNMA), as its new president.
At the conclusion of the 49th AIO conference, which was held in Algiers from May 27 to May 31 and had as its theme “The Contribution of Insurance to Food Security Challenges in Africa,” the decision was made.
C. Benhabiles began his professional career at the Compagnie Algérienne d’Assurance et de Réassurance (CAAR), where he received his Executive MBA from the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (Algiers). He joined CNMA in 2008, rising to the position of general manager in 2013.
C. Benhabiles had served as the AIO’s vice president since July 2022 before to his most recent appointment.
The 2024 Conference and Annual General Assembly of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO) will hold in Namibia, and in 2025, the conference will be hosted by Ethiopia, in 2026 by Cameroon, and in 2027 by Morocco.
